About Us
Prescribing Hope is a 501(C)(3) non-profit corporation that is dedicated to help strengthen communities and end suffering through medical relief. We run free medical clinics, health education programs, and engineering projects. We also help support other medical missions by sending much needed medication and supplies through our Supply Assistance Program.
Our mission: To provide quality, sustainable medical relief for communities whose member's lives are threatened by famine, disease, poverty, neglect, or war.
History
Prescribing Hope, formerly known as Students Without Borders Inc., began in 2007 when Bobby Malanga, who at the time was a sophomore at Cal State University Fullerton and frequent volunteer in Mexico, was asked to open a medical clinic in Jacume, Baja California. Asking organizations for support, the project was continually shut down because they either told him that the town of Jacume was too dangerous, too far away, or that opening a medical clinic would be too difficult. Bobby created Prescribing Hope because he believes that no idea is too difficult, too dangerous, or too much work when the outcome is helping people who are in need.
" I would rather live only one day, if I knew that in that day I could benefit somebody's life, than live one-hundred years and only live for myself." - Bobby Malanga
